A few months back, I noticed that Cafe Lalo, the famous dessert place here on the Upper West Side, had closed while undergoing "renovations." Happily, the renovations were real, and the doors are open again! Boy 1 and I, returning from his exciting afternoon of Hebrew school, did not go inside, but,other than bright halogen lights, we really couldn't see any difference from the windows. Which is good, because I think even I would have cried if Cafe Lalo became "Bank Lalo."
